Jack Dorsey, one of the founders and a former CEO of Twitter has a new type of social media site/app in beta testing that may make a good alternative to Twitter. It is called "BlueSky Social" It is build on new technology that will allow user much more control of their data and much more control of the content they are exposed to. It already has over 30,000 users on a wait list to join it once it is out of beta testing.

blue sky isn't an app or site. its a protocol. its also the way to address freedom and privacy issues. its an attempt to create a self authenticating protocol. this would mean that you could establish an identity independent of a site or app. its kind of like rss.
