I saw a receipt I had from 2014 for a 26 cu ft black side by side fridge with an ice maker. Price was 749. Today, the same brand, size, and feature fridge is $1079 on sale from the same place.

If I had $100,000 and was a large scale property manager, I could have bought 133 fridges in 2014, but only 92 today. Obviously you need to be putting your money into appreciating assets like crypto and not letting it sit idle and lose purchasing power.

I'm a home builder and do gut and renovation projects on the side. Prices and waiting times are out of hand. A piece of lumber that cost me $8. last year is easily $38. now. The last open house I had for a flip, there was a police officer called into direct traffic. No fucking kidding. It was crazy. It went for $60,000. over asking price in a bidding war. The market has to bust sometime. It can't keep going on like this.

Damn, that lumber example is incredible. We're also at the point where people can't even find $400 a day rental cars in Hawaii and are resorting to Uhaul trucks as rentals. Insane. I think things will cool off a bit, just as we saw with masks, hand sanitizer, and toilet paper. They can't even give hand sanitizer away at this point. No one wants it anymore.

This is a new car maker's wet dream though. Used cars have shot up insanely in price and the American public is stupid enough to believe there is a chip shortage affecting new cars. Gone are the days of walking a dealer. You get laughed off the lot if you don't pay full price plus 10%.

This is what happens when the government deems a bunch of people non-essential, locks them in their homes over a year, and pumps 8 trillion into the currency supply in a year. As soon as we see prices go down, I demand the federal government goes even bigger with a much larger bailout so we can keep this "recovery" going.

It must be frustrating as hell to be a commission sales rep for a product there is a shortage of. No one wanting to work is driving me up a fucking wall, literally. At my age, I don't want to be doing the grunt work. But, I'm back on ladders and roofs. No one wants to work. This has not been a good time for the home construction business as much as it looks like it. Who knows what the end game is with this mess.
